Highspeed Video Capture
High speed video capture with the use of Phantom cameras.
As part of my role at HSE [The Health & Safety Executive] I’m trained to use the Phantom high speed cameras. We use them on research projects, external projects and occasionally in incident investigation.
The clip below was shot on a Phantom LC320 at 1000fps [frames per second], it was captured from part of a training day provided at HSL.
The video captured through these cameras can be used for a number of different purposes, the above clip was captured to form part of an overall marketing video promoting the site and wide variety of training courses that are on offer. Research projects often require the imagery to be linked to a data logger, so an understanding of not just how to set up a pretty picture but knowledge of the overall software is essential as more often than not the projects are one time events and not easily reproduce able due to cost.
The video was created as part of my official duties for HSL and is therefore subject to ©Crown Copyright, Health and Safety Laboratory. Any re-use of imagery will be with permission granted by HSL.
